Synopsis of Backlash<\/h3>\n

In Backlash, late night on a notorious high-rise estate in Hackney and a white van is being driven erratically. The driver is pulled over by the police and questioned.<\/p>\n

A woman on the street after a long evening’s drinking… She never makes it home.<\/p>\n

A suspect… an arrest… a confession… A case done and dusted?<\/p>\n

Five years earlier, a 13-year-old girl disappeared in broad daylight on a busy street. DCS James Langton headed the investigation; the case was never closed. It has haunted him ever since.<\/p>\n

And now comes another confession, to this murder, and to one more besides. Too good to be true? DCI Anna Travis<\/a>, pulled into the fray, isn’t so sure that they have their man.<\/p>\n

Then the suspect changes his story…<\/p>\n

Review of Backlash<\/h3>\n

Backlash is the last novel, for now, in the Anna Travis y el DCS Langton series.<\/p>\n

The plot is good. Even though the story begins with the catching of the murderer red-handed, this simple fact hides much more: it seems that the case can be related to the disappearance of a little girl five years prior and, as the investigation unfolds, there are more crimes that appear to be related.<\/p>\n

The Travis-Langton relationship is still complicated, a kind of love-hate relationship that hides many things. From the first installment of the series we have been able to see the evolution of Anna Travis, from a simple novice in her first murder case until now, a DCI (Detective Chief Inspector) conducting her own investigations; and she’s good at it, as long as she doesn’t have (Detective Chief Superintendent) breathing down her neck.<\/p>\n

Lastly, I should highlight the process of the investigation, so meticulous as always and well narrated; it’s actually really pleasant to read this kind of novels, the reader has all the details and can follow their own deductions to solve the case.<\/p>\n

As I always say: it’s a pity that there isn’t a Spanish translation.<\/p>\n
