Synopsis of Something’s Alive on the Titanic<\/h3>\n

Something is alive on the Titanic. Something powerful and malevolent that protects the once-great ocean liner from the rapacious intentions of those who would desecrate her grave.<\/p>\n

It lurked unseen in the 1980s while three American and French expeditions, seeking to explore and document, visited the resting place of the world\u2019s most famous luxury liner.<\/p>\n

Whatever is down there first made itself known in 1975, encountered by a secret mission made before the later publicized ones. An undisclosed salvage attempts whose goal was not just scientific exploration.<\/p>\n

Based on a scrap of decoded text from the Titanic\u2019s cargo manifest, this first mission set out with the expectation of finding, and recovering, millions of dollars in gold believed hidden in Cargo Hold Three. An undertaking doomed to a tragic end.<\/p>\n

Now, in 1993, a new group of men and women \u2014 scientists, adventurers, and the United States Navy \u2014 wants to retrace the steps of that original voyage to investigate. And succeed where the 1975 mission failed.<\/p>\n

As they penetrate deep into the hull, the first people to see the interior in eighty-one years, they find they are not alone.<\/p>\n

At first skeptical of the reports from the first mission, which tell of monsters and apparitions that reason says cannot exist, they soon begin to believe.<\/p>\n

What they discover is extraordinary, something none of them has ever experienced before\u2026and something none of them ever wants to experience again.<\/p>\n

Review of Something’s Alive on the Titanic<\/h3>\n

I\u2019ve already commented on some review of a book about the Titanic that I am one of the people obsessed with its story. I\u2019ve read everything I\u2019ve found on the subject since I was very young.<\/p>\n

The first book I read was \u201cA Night to Remember<\/a>\u201d a true story as far as one can get, written by\u00a0Walter Lord<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was a book my mother had from a collection that was distinguished by the colors (yellow, pink, green and\u2026 I don\u2019t remember the last one).<\/p>\n

When I ran out of Tintin, Asterix, Agatha Christie and Rex Stout, and all there was to read in my childhood years (the 60s of the last century), I moved on to everything I found at home.<\/p>\n

Among the jewels my mother had (Rex Stout\u2019s were the first ones) I found \u201cA Night to Remember<\/a>.\u201d I loved it and, ever since, I\u2019ve been hooked on the subject.<\/p>\n

Besides, my great-aunts remembered when it sank, especially the eldest. She pronounced it the T\u00edtanic.<\/p>\n

Well, after all this background, I have to say I really liked Something\u2019s Alive on the Titanic.<\/p>\n

The book<\/h4>\n

It\u2019s a mixture of terror, supernatural things and science fiction. All themes I like and, mixed with the possible rescue of the Titanic, much more.\u00a0It\u2019s very well written. It also has as a tinge of Tutankhamun\u2019s Tomb-like curse. It all comes together to create a most interesting and intriguing story, where the interest remains to the end.<\/p>\n

I don\u2019t think it\u2019s translated into Spanish, and this blog may not be the most appropriate place to review it.\u00a0But\u2026 I review what I read, mainly police novel, thriller, etc. though I never rule out other genres that I like: biographies, historical novels, science fiction, horror\u2026<\/p>\n

Actually, this blog started as My Library, not My Black Library. The thing is that this last genre is the one I read the most.<\/p>\n
